The October 16th Songwriters Connection LIVE workshop will be at our office on Music Row (NOT online). Your host for this session is hit writer John Capek. The title of this workshop is :
SONGWRITING - Two on One.
It’s not who you know, or how to network.
The best way to success is to write a great song.
As songwriter, producer, arranger and player, John Capek can be heard on more than 100 million recordings worldwide.
His songs are performed by music's most iconic singers, as well as on television, in blockbuster films, supermarkets and elevators.
This kind of media penetration has given John a unique perspective on what it takes to be heard.
Be open to a new approach and a new way of writing a song.
In a workshop setting, John demystifies the process.
Some of John’s guidelines:
-songs are simple
- the Beatles did not go to Songwriting University
- Adele didn't study structure and harmony.
The Workshop:
- a short Songwriting 101 conversation
- a guided group co-write with a fixed premise
- all the bases will be covered without theoretical hypotheticals
- you will learn to write by writing
John will be joined by Australian superstar, Rick Price. Rick is an icon in the pop music field. He has many hits to his name and an standing-room-only performer throughout the southern hemisphere.
What to bring:
- creativity, a blank slate and an open mind
Seating is VERY Limited.
First come, first served! Drop me an email at songconnection@aol.com to register.
Every workshop so far has been filled with great information for songwriters, and they're free. I plan on coming every month.

Learning Music For Life: how to never stop getting better
Learning to play well is a lifelong process, and developing the concrete skills for effective learning will keep you out of the ruts and on the road to consistent improvement and growth.
The September 18th Songwriters Connection LIVE workshop will be at our office on Music Row (NOT online). Your host for this session is music producer Kim Copeland. The title of this workshop is "Song Critiques, Artist Critiques"
We're expecting lots of songwriters and artists to be in town that week for NSAI's Songposium and wanted to do something special for this workshop!
When Kim Copeland used to do critiques for The Nashville Songwriters Association, she was always the most requested reviewer. So I thought it would be great fun and highly helpful to everyone to have her do some critiques for both songwriters and performers.
Bring ONE song on CD (NO cassettes) and a typed lyric sheet. If you are an artist and would rather get a critique on your vocal performance, bring either a backing CD or your guitar.
First come, first served! Drop me an email at songconnection@aol.com to register.
